Mr. Elbert "Big Man" McLaurin, 81, Collins, MS passed away on June 16, 2023. Interment was in the McLaurin Family Cemetery.
Mr. McLaurin was a life-long member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where served as a Trustee. He was a caring man and father. He touched many lives in the community as well as throughout Covington County. He loved to plant gardens, fry fish, and harvest watermelons. He sold and gave away watermelons from the back of his truck.
He served his country by enlisting in the military in 1964 and received an honorable discharge. He was employed for 10 years at Mlibustoel and Masonite for 25 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estus and Dellie McLaurin; one daughter, Angie McLaurin Newsome, sisters, Rose Bell McClinton and Rosia Lee Magee; brothers, Roosevelt McLaurin , Geoge McLaurin, and D. L. McLaurin
Survivors include his children, Nicholas ( LaTasha) McLaurin and Nicole (Curtis) Ratliff, all of Collins, MS. Brothers, Shelly McLaurin , Estus (Annie Lou) McLaurin, all of Erie, PA Sisters, Effie Clanton and Josephine Bss, both of Collins; granddaughter, Rayvonne Newsome, Philadelphia, PA.. Special niece, Marion Claton, Collins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
