Pastor Jerry McGee, Sr passed away at his residence on March 9, 2024.
Pastor McGee joined Rocky Valley MBC at an early age and served as a Deacon and Choir member. He was faithful and dedicated to the church. He was a member of the Collins Spiritualiars singing group. He was called to the ministry in 2007. On October 23, 2011, he was ordained to preach the Gospel and became the pastor of James Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Pinola, MS, and served faithfully for twelve years and one week.
He was a graduate of Collins High School, class of 1978. He had a love for sports, motorcycles, and antique cars. He was a welder for 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah McGee; mother, Willie Mae MccGee-Smith and step-father, David Smith; daughter, Deirdre Lynette Fairley; one sister, Dorothy Jackson; two brothers, Donnell McGee and Billy Ray McGee.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Jearleain McGee; sons, Jerry Magee, Jr. and Justin Magee; grandchildren, Jav'on Magee and Julianna Magee; four sisters, Naomi McFarland, Judy Stokes, Jannell Ballard, and Catherine Hayes, all of Collins; friend-brother, Charles Fairley(Connie); brother in law, Terry Jackson; sister in laws, Jenex Fairley Keys, Brenda Raymond, all of Collins, Katina Hawthorne (Tivon) Bassfield, MS and Susan McGee and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
