Larry Gordon Mangrum

Mr. Larry Gordon "Flip" Mangrum, 71 ( May 15, 1953-January 18, 2025), Mount Olive, MS passed away on January 18, 2025.

He joined Galilee MBC at an early age. He attended Lincoln Attendance Center in Mount Olive and after completing 8th grade he went on to attend Carver Center High School, Collins, MS. After the schools were integrated in Covington County he returned to Mount Olive Attendance Center where he graduated in 1972. He received a football scholarship to Jones County Community College. After graduation, he furthered his education at Alcorn State University, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and Physical Education. He was employed at different companies including, Collinwood Poultry Plant, McQueen Road Construction, Boswell Recreation Department, Louisiana State Correction, Wilkinson County Correctional Facility, and Millcreek of Magee Treatment Center. Later in life, he became paralyzed and entered Hillcrest Nursing Center, Magee, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie (Shory) and Juanita Mangrum; sisters, Willie Ruth McNair and Jacqueline(Jackie) Wallace; brothers, Robert, Ervin, George Earl, Augustus(Chappy), Johnnie Q, and Arthur (Dude) Mangrum; brother in law, R. T. McNair.

Survivors include daughter Amanda Mangru, Shreveport, LA; brothers David(Dorothy) Mangrum, Apopka, FL, and Carl (Vangie) Mangrum, Crestview, FL; sister Sharon(Arthur) Graves, Magee, MS; three sisters-in-law, Corris Mangrum, Louise Mangrum, and Rosetta Antrum; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers: David Mangrum, Robert McNair, Jr., Carl Mangrum, Johnnie Benard Mangrum, and George Cordell Mangrum.
