Mrs. Sampson-Johnson was a graduate of Highland Park High School, Detroit, MI and she attended the Holy Cross and Zion Rock. Detroit, MI. She was employed at Green Leaf Restaurant, Detroit where she met all of the Motown singers. She also was a manager at the Indian Village, Detroit. In 1975 she relocated to Laurel, MS and worked for the Laurel School System and Jones County School System where she retired. She was married to Reverend Milton Sampson where they attended Priest Creek Baptist Church. She also was 1st Lady to Reverend S. L. Johnson at Mount Olive Baptist Church. She was a choir and quartet singer and a motivational speaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Saul Reeves and Willie Bell Reeves, two husbands, Reverend Milton Sampson and Reverend S. L. Johnson; siblings, Pathina Tayor(Julian) Sarah Davis(Kaye), Isaac Reeves, Ruth Cowan ( Roy), Rossi Billings ( Willie C.) Lois Smith, Sylvia Clark(Sylvester), and Mark Reed ( Mae); one grandson , Damon Hill, one son-in-law, Willie Webb.
Survivors include her children, Curtis(Pearl) Hill, Willa Mae Webb, Teresa Burner, and Tina M. Sampson all of Laurel. 10 stepchildren, 18 foster children, 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
