Mrs. Queen Ester McCollum "Mama Essie", 88, (June 27, 1935-October 21, 2023), Mount Olive, MS (formerly of Smith County, MS) died at Arrington Living Center, Collins, MS on October 13, 2023.
Mrs. Queen enjoyed working in food service and working with flowers. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Her passion was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church and remained a member until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Molly Cooper, and all of her siblings, her husband, JC McCollum, children, Diane Roundtree, Randy Cooper, Patricia Cooper, Jessie McCollum, and Stanley McCollum.
Survivors include her children, Essie Thompson, Magee, MS, Joann Cooper, Mount Olive, Dora McCollum, Tallahassee, FL, A J. McCollum, James McCollum, David McCollum, all of Mount Olive, and Chico McCollum, Dallas, TX. She raised four of her grandchildren, Queenie West, LuKesia Cooper, Kaylo Cooper, and Wilma Martin. Special friends, Hazel Shelby, and Lela Mae Hubbard. She had 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 52 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
