Mrs. Rosa Patricia Magee, 76, Collins, MS( Friendship Community) passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Mrs. Magee graduated from West Philadelphia High School and continued her education at Cheney State University. After graduation, she worked for the Philadelphia Public School System. She was a devout member of Beulah Baptist Church. God and education were core commitments in her life. After marriage and relocating to Mississippi she quickly found a church home at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and later committed to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she remained until her illness. She earned her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from William Carey College and Specialists
Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Mrs. Magee served the community through education by working for Prentiss Institute in the Adult Education Department, at Seminary Attendance Center in Covington County Schools as a teacher, and later for Hattiesburg Public Schools where she served as a teacher and an administrator.
A career highlight as an administrator was when she helped orchestrate "Parent University: with special presenters such as Steadman Graham and Jawanza Kunjufu.
She retired in 2003 with over 34 years of service. After retirement, she worked for the University of Southern Mississippi as a Trainer/Coach for Student Teachers. She was also involved with several book clubs, church missions, and church organizations and served on the board for Alpha One Christian School and the Covington County Boys and Girls Club.
Mrs. Magee was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Doreatha Horn; son, Charles Patrick Magee; sister, Mary Alicia Horn.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Charles Magee; daughters, Jad Magee-Stroud (Shawn) and Tara Thompson(Kevin); grandchildren, Jonathan Stroud and Wyleigh Thompson; sister, Beverly Gamble(Vernell); aunt, Pearl Bush; sister-in-law, Bethrotha Magee; special nephews, James Jr. (Bridgette), Breaun Magee and Taylor Harper; special nieces, Paula Flowers(Earl), Tamika Harper( Derrick) and Renata Wall-Hawkins (Denard) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and mentees.

Pastor Randy Miller was the Officiant; other clergy participants, Dr. Picasso Nelson presented the Prayer of Comfort, and Minister Jerome Flower, Jr, and Minister Dissie Magee read the Old and New Testament readings.
