The Legacy of Reeves Funeral Home, Incorporated,
Mount Olive, Mississippi

The legacy of Reeves Funeral Home, Mount Olive, MS spans seven decades of service to the Covington County communities and surrounding communities, the state of Mississippi as well as service to other states in the United States.

Reeves Funeral Home’s original name was associated with Enterprise Funeral Home. However, during the Spring/Summer of 1941 the business was established as Reeves and Holloway Funeral Home with the founding members of Prince McVee Reeves, Willie Holloway, and Earvin Barron. P. M. Reeves started selling burial insurance for Thomas Burial Insurance, Forrest, MS. He got the idea to start his own funeral business during this time. He was given an old worn our hearse to use in his business. This hearse was often broken. Sometimes a machine shop would make parts for the motor in the hearse. Mr. Earvin Barron left the funeral business during the early 1950’s. The original site was established in Mount Olive, in the “Quarters” now renamed East Lincoln Heights. After some time, Mr. Willie Holloway decided to sell his interest in the funeral home.

The second site was located on Mulberry St. and became Reeves Funeral Home, owned and operated by P. M. Reeves and wife, Allie Mae McNair Reeves until her death in September 1969. Original burial agents with Reeves and Holloway Funeral Home were Rev. E. W. Washington, Mount Olive, C. Roy Thigpen, Taylorsville, MS, Rev. V. T. Thompson, Bassfield, MS, Rev. E. D. Barksdale, Collins, MS. And Rev. Stedman Hayes, Mendenhall, MS.

P. M. Reeves operated the family -owned funeral business until his death in May 1979 at which time his son, Andrew C. Reeves and his wife, Cleoria Sanders Reeves continued the business until her death in October 1998. Andrew continues as owner along with his children.

Reeves Funeral Home, Inc. moved to the present site in 2007.

2011 was the 70th anniversary of Reeves Funeral Home, Inc. Mount Olive MS. We thank the communities, towns, neighbors, friends, vendors, and the state of Mississippi for your ongoing support of our family- owned business. Sympathetic service with dignity has always been our main goal and focus. We are committed to a legacy of service.
